Expanding vocabulary
Today I learned a new word: uchiage. I'm sure my children are shocked. "Moooooom! You don't know that!" They really should be used to me being a bit dimwitted, and yet they still can't seem to believe that I don't know things. How could I live in Japan for 27 years and not know what an "uchiage" is... sigh... An "uchiage" is the party you have after an event to celebrate its successful completion.

What!? What will you be taking? And Mom, I must confess, I have lived in Japan my hole life without knowing what uchiage ment. I always thought, "oh just some kind of party..."
I don't know what yet. I had planned on just one course - probably film. But I didn't sign up in time - got back from Tak too late - and in the meantime Luke has been urging me to get serious. So tomorrow I have an appointment with the head of the Humanities Department. Pray for me, ok?
