Picnicking in the Snow

Last Monday we picnicked in the park again.

Later Matthew asked me if I had enjoyed the day. I think he was wondering whether I really enjoy sitting on a cold bench watching the snowflakes fall. Or perhaps he was thinking about the rest of the day. I don't know.

But yes, I do enjoy sitting on a freezing cold bench drinking hot tea and watching the snowflakes.

It was nice to have a roof and I definitely like to lean against my companions. (Angela this time because John was away in Iwate Prefecture with the Camp Board.) And I would have liked warm quiche (but Matthew doesn't like cheese and is allergic to eggs) or hot soup (and we haven't got the logistics of that one worked out yet) instead of cold tuna sandwiches. But the hot ginger tea warmed our bodies and the company warmed my soul.

It's the camaraderie of doing something a little crazy together.

I think I was asking you about the afternoon as a whole, rather than the picnic specifically. I understood you were hoping for a rather relaxing afternoon and I was wondering whether that objective had been fulfilled.

God Bless

Matthew
