My Daughter, the Artist

While looking for a good photo of Sarah I stumbled on the folder of her art work and I couldn't resist showing off a little.

First Day of Class - Sarah with the paint bucket

Mask transformation project from first semester

Notice Sarah's painting in the first panel!

Final Project

Disclaimer: She's not really a very morbid person - she had to work within the constraints of the course objectives.

I forgot about this connection, but my cousin Kevin's Hamm's stepdaughter, Sonia Hamm, just started at Brandon University in the Fine Arts Program- she loves jewelry design. Is Sarah still there? Sonia has moved from St. Petersburg in the past year with their family. Kevin moved his Soviet Union family 'home' to Canada after a number of years living and working in camping ministry in Russia. See her stuff at Sonchick at the Flicker.com site. Anne Trepanier

Yes, she's still there!

Furthermore, she's been telling me about someone who sounds exactly like this Sonia - except Sarah's been calling her Sophia. Is this indicative of the Russian multiplicity of names? or are there two Christian girls from St. Petersburg at Brandon this year?

No, it is the usual frustrating Russion practice-I remember reading Dostoevsky and having to make charts. Tolstoy as well...That is very cool-I have never met her, just know her from my parents' comments and my cousin's e-mails about their ministry. Hopefully it is a good contact and friend. Anne
