Erin "writing"
There's nothing quite like a writing utensil for exerting one's independence!
Erin's being very good in this photo. But walls and tables seem to have a certain appeal that sometimes exceeds that of paper - children know what's more permanent! Erin's cousin is encouraged to exorcise this desire to make her mark in the world by writing on one particular bench dedicated to her childish graffiti.
Eating alone
Theoretically this step of using eating utencils precedes the one of using writing utensils. But its sometimes less appealing for parents because, let's face it, sometimes independence is messy...
And rather tiring for parents!
