The song my husband hates

I was listening to Frank Mills on the way home from Hirosaki Friday. His Music Box Dancer sends tingles down my spine - its SO BEAUTIFUL!

And then it got to the song my husband hates. I mean HATES. (He always fast forwards the tape.)

Oh my love the days are shorter now
The mornings getting colder
This restless heart is calling once again
I'm not one for tranquil waters
And the storm within me's growing
I'm a traveler and I'd best be on my way
Sail away, sail away, sail away across the ocean.
Sail away, sail away, far away across the ocean.

In your heart I think you’ve always known
That someday I’d be leaving
It wasn’t right for me to stay so long
Let’s just say it wasn’t meant to be
You sure deserve much better
I'm a traveler and its best that I be gone.
Sail away, sail away, sail away across the ocean.

Sail away, sail away, far away across the ocean.

Please don’t tell me that I’m searching
For a question never answered
For the answer’s in the searching
That’s my way
Always moving, always searching
That’s the way of all the travelers
I’m a traveler and I’d best be on my way
Sail away, sail away, sail away across the ocean.

Sail away, sail away, far away across the ocean.

---Frank Mills

I loved this sort of music when I was young. I used to (try to) project this image of myself... I thought it was “cool”. Like those men by Hirosaki U. gate with their cigarettes I couldn’t see how pathetic I really looked, how incompatible my perceived “coolness” was with my Christian walk. My husband’s right - what’s so cool anyway about self-centered cynicism?! (But even he admits the music is nice.)

What a beautiful song! i just happened across it tonight (20150918) while listening to other Frank Mills songs. Spanish Coffee has special significance (1975). Thank you for the lyrics.
