The road winds back

Yesterday I received an invitation to a Book Writing Workshop to be held on Aug. 30-Sept. 3, 2010 in Hong Kong. I was recommended... I still have a note I received a few years ago (from the director who recommended me for the workshop) telling me that I MUST write a book.

Not that I hadn't thought of it myself. Truth to tell, it had actually been my dream ever since I was a little girl. I filled diaries, I wrote letters. I bought my first computer (and this is my 5th computer) to write a book.

But somehow I took a different road. (Was it because I got cold feet?) One that wound away.... Is that road now winding back?

What kind of book do you think you will write?

Mmmm... what they want me to write is obviously going to be an autobiographical book on mission. And I have a complete outline to one of those in my computer case. But stopped at the outline about 10 years ago... and I'm still trying to work out how to talk about hard times (and you know there are a lot of those!) with out hurting people.

Most people get around this (some with better success than others) by writing novels... which I'd actually rather write anyway - but there's no market for missionary novels!

The other project I have on hold is a book about Tak... I collected so much raw material in the way of letters and recorded interviews. But that's another one with a narrow audience - and how do I please it?!
