God's Good Advice

I was rereading Reader's Digest "Quotable Quotes" tonight...

Learn from the mistakes of others.
You can't make them all yourself.

It reminded me of this passage in Corinthians where we're told 'don't do such and such like so and so and such and such happened' and then goes on to say:

Now these things occurred as examples to keep us from setting our hearts on evil things as they did... No temptation has seized you except what is common to man. And God is faithful; he will not let you be tempted beyond what you can bear.

I have (more than) one friend who can't seem to learn from others' experience. But look how much grief it can spare us!
