Singing while you work (walk)...
...is definitely more difficult than its cracked up to be. The songs song by chain gangs, galley slaves and the men who built the railways (or was that the chain gangs?!) always sound so cool. And I thought they did it to make the work go easier. But how did they do it?! I can't even sing when I walk without my voice breaking!

I think it's an issue of pace and rythm. If you move at the pace of one step per a second or so I think you will find that you too could be a chain gang member.
You have to sing from your gut, not from your throat. I heard somewhere that the viscera is the seat of emotions (hence, "gut instinct" and the reason why samurai commit ritual suicide there). I also heard somewhere that average men breath from their throat; real men breath from their stomach. Something like that.

Well, that sounds reasonable, Kris. But I'm not sure I know how to sing from my gut. Maybe I should practice on dog walks along the river (where there's no one to think I'm crazy!)
I'm even worse at pace and rhythm, Luke! I wonder what Willie will think of forming a chain gang?...
