Yesterday - a beginning

Yesterday Daughter # 3 was married at 2 pm and gone by 4 pm. By 8 pm we'd pretty well cleaned up - except for a lot of forgotten dishes and furoshiki. (The reception was just a simple Dessert Potluck in the church. )

Then we crashed a little - listened to Daughter # 4's birthday album "The Best of Rolf Harris"- and went to bed. For us the day was an ending: The end of all that tension building up to the wedding. The end of life with Mary. Well, not entirely they'll be living in the next town and attending the same church! But there'll be no more everyday with Mary.

Of course, for the happy couple its a beginning. The beginning of a lifelong partnership. And we trust the verses read in the ceremony will prove true.
Two are better than one, because they have a good return for their work: If one falls down, his friend can help him up. But pity the man who falls and has no one to help him up! Also, if two lie down together, they will keep warm. But how can one keep warm alone? Though one may be overpowered, two can defend themselves. A cord of three strands is not quickly broken.
Ecclesiastes 4:9-12
As my brother-in-law pointed out, the 3rd strand in the cord is God. With God the strand of their marriage will endure.
