It’s the 5th day of Lent (because Sundays aren’t counted in the 40 days) and I’m still counting blessings.
Today Daughter # 4 and I drove to Sendai. It was a blizzarding in Aomori when we left at 4 pm and my back hurt. But as we drove the weather cleared and I began to relax and enjoy.
I have so many good memories of road trips. So many long, long, long journeys across North America on Deputation and then again on Home Assignments. Then there were the shorter but still rather long trips with my own children and now with students.
There’s something intimate about a car ride. Somehow its easier to talk about the things that matter. And we should.
Deuteronomy 6:6 These commandments that I give you today are to be on your hearts. 7 Impress them on your children. Talk about them when you sit at home and when you walk along the road, when you lie down and when you get up.
